Small Liberal in a Large Conservative Pond

Do you ever feel like a fish out of water?  I’m stuck among Republican, church going, stay-at-home momming, attend shop-at-home party going, folks out here in the West Valley of Phoenix.  Not that there’s anything wrong with that.  But for a Democratic, NPR listening, New Yorker reading, working Mom, there’s just not a lot of like-minded conversations to have.  It’s sort of lonely.  There are too many good reasons not to move.  Any suggestions on finding people in my niche?

I’m Sad to See Her Go, Godspeed Hillary and the Fake Divide

OK, so it was time (maybe past time) for Hillary Clinton to bow out of the presidential race.  For some reason, Hillary just rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.  I have to admit though, that I am pretty sad to see the newspaper headlines revert to the classic photo layout of the top two males running for President.  OK, ok Barack Obama is African American and that’s new and exciting.  However, it was pretty nice to have Hillary and Barack up there on page 1.  Anyone else question why an African American male can make it, but a female still can’t?  Just wondering.

The Fake Divide:  Or How to make news out of nothing:  I’ve noticed a lot of fear mongering among the press i.e. “Oh no, what will Hillary supporters do?”  “Did the primaries divide the Democrats?”  “Will they stay home on election day? Vote for McCain?”  Don’t be absurd.  Obama’s got my vote.  I’m not one to cut off my nose to spite my face.  And it wasn’t even that hard to make the switch.  Now to get AZ governor Janet Napolitano on the ticket as VP 🙂
